PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A landmark highway bridge carrying a 6-lane highway and two footways crossing Lake Victoria in Mwanza region. The bridge will provide an important link between the Mwanza region and the surrounding western regions as well as neighbouring countries such as Rwanda, and Burundi.

The J.P. Magufuli bridge includes extra dosed cable-stayed bridge and
approach bridge with a total length of 3000m, the extradosed cable-stayed bridge span arrangement is 100m +2x160m+100m = 520m.

It is a three-pylon, double-cable-plane low-pylon cable-stayed bridge. The main pylons made of concrete cambered pylon columns. The height from the bridge deck to the top of the pylons 18.9m. The pylon body is equipped with a cable saddle for the stay cables to pass through. The main beam is a concrete single-box four-chamber structure, and the main beam is constructed using a rear fulcrum hanging basket cantilever casting.

The Main Girder adopts a Box section with a 2.5% transverse slope and
1.125% longitudinal slope. The girder height in the mid-span and end span is 5.4m and 3.2m respectively.
